DAY 1 PORTO (ARRIVAL) / DOURO WINE REGION
Upon arrival at Porto Airport, our driver/guide will welcome you and, over the next six days, take you through the Douro wine region, one of the oldest demarcated wine regions in the world. We have prepared this trip to offer you a unique and exclusive itinerary through the Douro Valley, combining luxury accommodation with the most emblematic locations and memorable experiences. Being just a proposal, this Tour can be adapted according to your desires and expectations. Arrival at the hotel. Free time to rest. Accommodation in the Douro Valley.
DAY 2 DOURO WINE REGION
After a good breakfast at the hotel, we start exploring one of the most famous Portuguese regions: the Douro Valley. It is an incredible region, full of colorful vineyards, breathtaking landscapes, a crystal-clear river, and award-winning wines. In an exclusive vehicle and with a Portuguese-speaking driver/guide, we travel along one of the most beautiful roads in Portugal, along the left bank of the Douro River. We then arrive in Pinhão. In this small village, enjoy the views of the impressive bridge and visit the small train station, covered in blue and yellow tiles that tell the story of Port wine production. Our day will end with a visit to two of the most famous Quintas in the Douro Valley. Here, you can learn more about the current wine production process, with a tasting of the delicious wines produced, at the end. Accommodation in the Douro Valley.
DAY 3 COA VALLEY (DOURO SUPERIOR)
After breakfast at the hotel, we head to other tourist sites in Portugal, such as the village of S. João da Pesqueira, considered the "heart of the Douro Wine Region" and which has, probably, the most impressive viewpoint in the entire Douro region, called São Salvador do Mundo. In Foz Côa, we can visit a winery, in the Archaeological Park of the Coa Valley, in a territory classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Possibility of observing the rock engravings of the Coa Valley, a rare concentration of rock art composed of engravings on stone dated to the Upper Paleolithic (22,000 - 10,000 BC). Accommodation in the Douro Valley.
DAY 4 PORT WINE-PRODUCING QUINTAS AND DOURO
On your last day visiting the Douro Wine Region, you can enjoy the most typical experiences that will surely please you. We start by visiting one of the most recognized Port wine-producing Quintas, which, having been awarded the "Best Of Wine Tourism" prize, offers impressive views, as it is surrounded by vineyard slopes that rise above the Douro River. After a delicious wine tasting, we head to Pinhão, where we embark on a wonderful Douro River cruise. On board a typical Rabelo boat, you can admire surprising landscapes, impossible to see on national road routes. Finally, we return to Porto, along an incredible and comfortable journey. Accommodation in Porto.
DAY 5 PORTO, WORLD HERITAGE
After a delicious breakfast, we start our Tour of the emblematic city of Porto, the second-largest city in Portugal, whose history and development are closely related to the Douro Wine Region. Located at the mouth of the Douro River, the city of Porto was a strategic point for the transportation of Port wine. In the past, the Douro vineyards were hundreds of kilometers from the ports. The solution was to transport the wine to Porto (crossing the Douro River), a city that was right next to the Atlantic Ocean, making it possible to load the Port wine barrels onto ships for later export. With refined architectural and landscape value, a visit to this famous city is a must. During this walk, we will have the opportunity to get to know the most important sites in Porto, passing through its historic center, notable streets, squares, ancient and modern monuments, gardens, and much more. Finally, we cross the impressive Luis I bridge to enjoy a delicious tasting of Port wines at one of the most famous cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia. Accommodation in Porto.
